The Vice School Principal prioritizes the best interests of each student enrolled in subjects and courses at the campus. The VSP is responsible for organizing the curriculum in collaboration with other VSPs and the Director of International Programs at WIS. Together with the Academic Directors, the VSP ensures the maintenance of a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that maximizes opportunities and benefits for all students. The VSP also oversees the overall learning outcomes and tone of the academic environment. 

Role Description The Vice School Principal is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This position supports the School Principal in overseeing daily academic operations, including classroom supervision, curriculum implementation, and coordination of teaching staff. The Vice Principal will help maintain a safe, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment, monitor student performance, and engage with families regarding academic and behavioral progress. Additional responsibilities include supporting teacher professional development, contributing to school-wide planning and policy implementation, and ensuring that school standards align with the American English curriculum and institutional goals.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of syllabus requirements for all relevant subjects. 
  • Stay informed about current trends in education, particularly regarding curriculum development, and implement effective tools for enhancement. 
  • Oversee and evaluate the preparation and implementation of work programs, study plans, and other courses of study within relevant subject areas. 
  • Monitor student learning and academic outcomes to ensure educational effectiveness. 
  • Assume the duties of the School Principal in their absence. 
  • Provide leadership to teachers in developing a responsive and appropriate curriculum. 
  • Supervise all teaching and non-teaching staff, including Teacher Assistants and Nannies. 
  • Coordinate with Department Heads to plan for full-time teachers, delegating tasks effectively and ensuring optimal time management. 
  • Regularly monitor individual teachers through: 
  • Observations and evaluations of lessons. 
  • Review of lesson plans. 
  • Monitoring assessments and grading. 
  • Collaborate with other Vice School Principals to discuss the curriculum cycle and other program aspects. 
  • Meet with the Director of International Programs and Vice-President to share progress and plan for ongoing needs. 
  • Hold regular departmental meetings (at least once a month), ensuring minutes are taken and shared. 
  • Liaise with teachers to promote quality work and ensure regular updates. 
  • Foster a strong connection between home and school to support student learning. 
  • Encourage parental involvement in their child's educational journey. 
  • Keep the supervisor and management informed about projects, changes, and challenges by providing timely and substantive feedback. 
  • Facilitate teacher meetings as forums for information sharing and feedback. 
  • Conduct year-end performance appraisals with recommendations for each teacher. 
  • Plan, implement, oversee, and evaluate assessment and reporting processes. 
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of student records. 
  • Lead professional development initiatives for teaching and non-teaching staff to enhance instructional practices. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving student engagement and achievement. 
  • Collaborate with support staff to address the diverse needs of students. 
  • Analyze academic data to inform decision-making and strategic planning for curriculum improvements. 
  • Support the development of extracurricular programs that enrich the student experience.
