About Youth Off The Streets

Youth Off The Streets is a not‑for‑profit organisation supporting young people to build safer, healthier futures. For 30 years, our special assistance schools have provided flexible education for students who don’t thrive in mainstream settings.

EDEN College, Macquarie Fields was opened in February 2007 and provides education for young people who are either disengaged or at risk of becoming disengaged from mainstream education. EDEN College provides both Stage 5 and Stage 6 curriculum, options and opportunities.

Our school programs aim to empower young people with learning strategies to make informed decisions towards creating a positive future.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated secondary-trained Teacher to join our team on a full-time basis at our special assistance school located in Macquarie Fields, NSW.

We have a strong preference for candidates with teaching experience in Maths and/or P.E., but we are also open to applicants who are willing to teach outside their trained subject areas. If you're adaptable, enthusiastic, and committed to making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with young people who have been marginalised in previous schools.
  • Previous experience working in a trauma-informed setting or with students who have experienced trauma is preferred.
  • An understanding of the principles that underpin a child safe organisation including mandatory child protection procedures.
  • Demonstrated capacity to respect and work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Additional experience in outdoor recreation, performing arts, creative arts, sport, fitness or other extra curricula activities are desirable qualities.
  • Experience and proficiency in G-Suite and Google Classroom is desired but not essential.
  • Current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
