As Vice-Principal, You Will

- Model and encourage moral and social responsibility, fostering a community of respect and accountability.

- Cultivate positive, sustainable relationships with staff, students, families, and community members, supported by clear and open communication.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills, balancing administrative responsibilities with a commitment to learning and leadership.
About Frank J. Mitchell Elementary
Located in the heart of Sparwood, Frank J. Mitchell Elementary is a vibrant K–6 school with approximately 350 students. It is a welcoming, community-focused environment where staff and families work together to support student achievement and well-being.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for teacher certification with the Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Must have a Master in leadership, curriculum, or another relevant field.
- Teaching/degree/training at the elementary school level.
- Background in trauma-informed schools.
- Proven success working with at-risk students.
- Social-emotional learning and prior administrative experience will be considered an asset.
Must Have The Ability To
- Initiate and organize effective school programs, activities, and services.
- Be an effective instructional leader with knowledge of current research in instructional practices.
- Knowledge of special education and current teaching strategies for students needing extra support.
- Strong understanding of the renewed BC curriculum and competencies.
- Be an experienced educator with a strong commitment to public education.
- Implement strong, current pedagogical practices that incorporate inquiry and project- or place-based learning.
- Lead with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Promote and build educational and professional leadership with students, parents, staff and community.
- Be a team builder and player, strengthening and maintaining a professional learning community.
- Be committed to the school and community involvement.
- Be knowledgeable of school contractual and budgetary matters.
- Be committed to advancing Truth and Reconciliation, both personally and within the school community.
- Work effectively with district management.
Salary Range: $134,076 – 141,667
