Birch Agency is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to join our team. $3,500 Sign on Bonus!

Birch Agency is currently seeking a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the 2026/2027 school year. This position involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss. The teacher will focus on developing students’ communication, language, academic, and social skills while ensuring their access to the general education curriculum. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with families, interpreters, and multidisciplinary teams to foster student success in both inclusive and specialized educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small-group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team.

• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet students communication and learning needs.

• Support development of language, speech, listening, and communication skills.

• Use communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, cued speech, or total communication as appropriate.

• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure classroom accessibility and accommodations.

• Monitor and evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

• Provide consultation to staff regarding strategies for supporting students with hearing loss.

• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.

• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development.

Required:

• Bachelors degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Special Education.

• Knowledge of hearing loss, language development, and communication strategies.
