Position: Teacher of Physics (Cover)

Overview

We are seeking a Teacher of Physics for our Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) campus for a fixed period of 1 year, starting 24 August 2026.

Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and experience or interest in teaching GCSE, International A Level or IB is desirable. The role will initially be based at Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) and may require work at another campus in the future.

The School

The British School in the Netherlands is arranged into four campuses. The Senior School Voorschoten is a large, modern campus that serves international and local students from the surrounding area.

Our senior school is located in Voorschoten, between The Hague and Leiden, with excellent transport links. The school largely follows the British National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4 and offers multiple post-16 pathways (including IB, A-Level and BTEC), serving nearly 900 students of over 80 nationalities.

The Role

The Physics department at BSN is staffed by 4 full-time Physics teachers, alongside a dedicated technician. You would be part of a large Science faculty (16 staff) and have opportunities to collaborate and develop professionally. The department is well resourced with digital and experimental facilities, and the team is committed to helping students learn 21st century skills and think independently.

In Physics, students may take Separate Sciences or Trilogy (AQA) at Key Stage 4 and choose between the International Baccalaureate and International A Level (Edexcel) programmes at Key Stage
5. Experience with both programmes is advantageous;
Physics is a heavily subscribed subject at the school.
