ICan Kids Summer Camp is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Assistant who enjoys working with children and supporting them in a caring and engaging environment during our ICan Kids Summer Camp program.
Our ICan Kids Summer Camp is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where children’s curiosity, creativity, and ideas are at the center of the learning experience. The ideal candidate demonstrates warmth, patience, and a genuine interest in building meaningful connections with children. They are attentive, supportive, and eager to encourage children’s exploration, independence, and self-expression.
We expect the Assistant to help create a safe, stimulating, and respectful environment that promotes positive engagement, collaboration, and joy in learning. The role involves observing children’s interests, supporting their individual learning journeys, and contributing to project-based activities inspired by their ideas. The Assistant should be able to respond thoughtfully to children’s needs, guide behavior with care and consistency, and support conflict resolution using positive and respectful strategies.
As part of our ICan Kids Summer Camp team, you will actively engage with children, encourage their initiatives, support their creativity, and help bring their ideas to life. You will also represent our camp values both within the classroom and in interactions with parents.
The English-speaking Assistant communicates with children exclusively in English.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety procedures and instructions
- Communicate and liaise with colleagues in an effort to promote and establish integrative links and/or awareness
- Maintain communication with parents according to the policy of the kindergarten
- Organize, help and take care of the children in the yard/group during evening time according to the schedule
- Help children of the different groups with toilets, changing clothes and food, taking part in all activities
- Speak with children respectfully and calmly
- Support teachers in setting up the classroom, organizing displays and equipment
- Work with individual students and small groups
- Watch, record and report the progress students make
- Help the teacher to maintain discipline and behavior including dealing with inappropriate behavior according to school policy
- Maintain the group tidy
- Use different methods to motivate and encourage interaction in the group
- Read books for children according to the topic of the week
- Attend and constructively contribute to staff meetings
Requirements:
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Cyprus
- School leaving certificate
- Positive attitude to small students and strong belief in their abilities
- Being a good team player
- Excellent knowledge of English Language – speaking English at a high level will be considered as an advantage
- Relevant experience of working in a EYFS setting, or/and in private kindergartens and first aid qualification will be considered as an advantage
- Being a dynamic person with a willingness to innovate and inspire from
- An ability to communicate well with all ages of kindergarten students, staff and parents
- A positive attitude and commitment to collaborating with others
- A proven ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
- Excellent communication skills and patience
- Creative approach to daily tasks
