Overview
K-12 Teacher, Alpha – $120,000/year USD Jobs in Seattle, WA at Crossover
Title: K-12 Teacher, Alpha – $120,000/year USD
Company: Crossover
Location: Seattle, WA
Compensation & Logistics
- W2 salary of $120,000 per year, paid on a weekly schedule; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins immediately
- Full-time position (40 hours per week), on-site at Alpha School's Kirkland, WA campus (short-term assignment at a different Alpha location possible until Kirkland campus is operational)
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate is mandatory. No active certificate means no interview.
You hold a valid WA teaching certificate. The real question is whether you want to continue lecturing, grading papers, and delivering a standardized curriculum that treats every child the same.
In this role, you are not a traditional teacher. You are a motivator. The most powerful way to support a student who reaches 99% of their weekly target is to refuse to accept it as finished. If that approach feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it excites you—because maintaining high expectations is your way of showing students you believe in their ability—then continue reading.
Alpha students complete their academic learning through adaptive, AI-driven applications. There are no lectures, no textbooks, and no lesson plans to prepare over the weekend. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour workshops on life skills—topics include public speaking, focus, and the art of giving and receiving constructive feedback. Around 30% involves individual or small-group coaching sessions where you review Coachbot performance data and guide each student toward their weekly app-based learning goals. The remaining 10% is dedicated to analyzing data and translating insights into actionable coaching strategies for the week ahead. You will not follow a script; the most effective Guides modify existing workshops and create new ones when they identify unmet needs.
Success in this role is not defined by "engaging sessions." It is defined by measurable progress. A successful semester means at least 90% of your cohort demonstrates pre-to-post improvement on Test2Pass assessments, at least 90% meet their weekly learning-app targets, and students rate their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any one of these three metrics means falling short of the role. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain rigorous standards, opportunities open to advance to Lead Guide—where you mentor new Guides while continuing to lead a cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead.
If you prefer a pre-packaged curriculum, or if you believe warmth and rigor cannot coexist, this position is not the right fit. If your WA certificate is current and you are motivated by coaching K-8 students to tangible results rather than delivering textbook-based lectures, submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, and feedback exchange, modifying existing materials and creating new content when you identify instructional gaps
- Administering pre- and post-assessments through Test2Pass and coaching students who have not yet achieved mastery until they demonstrate proficiency
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student toward their weekly app progression goals, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (including school currency and leaderboards), and your personal rapport with each child to overcome reluctance
- Analyzing weekly performance metrics, identifying struggling students early, and implementing corrective interventions within the same week
- Serving as the adult who upholds rigorous standards while remaining someone students trust and want to engage with; building rapport earns you the credibility to challenge them, and challenging them demonstrates your confidence in their potential
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering whiteboard lectures or creating daily lesson plans; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you
- Developing curriculum from the ground up; your role is to execute and enhance a proven framework with energy and narrative skill
- Passively monitoring students at computers or allowing them to disengage throughout the day; motivation in this environment is proactive, individualized, and persistent
- Reducing weekly targets or advancing a student without confirmed mastery in order to stay on schedule or sidestep difficult discussions
- Assessing homework assignments or managing communications with parents
