Reading Coach, gt.school – $100,000/year USD Jobs in Austin, TX at Crossover
Title: Reading Coach, gt.school – $100,000/year USD
Company: Crossover
Location: Austin, TX
- On-site in Georgetown (Austin), TX. Relocation assistance available
- $100,000 annual salary, full-time role. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
- Structured literacy certification required (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, CERI, LETRS, or equivalent)
The most impactful intervention for a gifted six-year-old reading at grade level is to refuse complacency. If you hold structured literacy credentials and have witnessed phonics instruction unlock potential in early readers, consider what becomes possible when you direct those same methods toward children who aren't remedial—they're simply unchallenged. The result isn't incremental improvement. It's 5–10x acceleration.
At gt.school, you finally deploy your complete skill set. No prescribed basal readers. No mandated district pacing. You facilitate small-group early literacy workshops for gifted children ages 5–8, conduct running records, establish differentiated instructional groups based on real-time assessment, and craft every lesson around what the evidence shows. Adaptive technology manages content progression. Your role is the irreplaceable element: guiding a small cohort of high-ability students to surpass benchmarks they weren't expected to reach until much later.
Every student achieves their adaptive software targets. Over 90% rate your instruction highly. That outcome reflects what happens when a credentialed literacy specialist works intimately with small groups of gifted learners without institutional obstacles. You'll witness first graders who entered at grade level begin consuming chapter books independently. That's the kind of transformation most reading professionals hope to observe once in a career.
If you possess the certification, the phonics mastery, and the belief that gifted children deserve acceleration rather than grade-level enrichment, submit your application.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating small-group phonics instruction for gifted K–2 learners, with each lesson informed by student performance data rather than scripted materials
- Conducting running records, evaluating reading proficiency, and organizing differentiated instructional cohorts independently
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that leverage school incentive systems, performance leaderboards, and relational connection to motivate ambitious goals within adaptive platforms
- Monitoring live student progress within adaptive learning tools and adjusting instruction dynamically as data patterns emerge
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Teaching whole-class lectures. Students engage with self-directed applications, not passive teacher-led instruction
- Supervising large groups of 25+ learners. Your focus is on small cohorts of gifted children
- Adhering to district curriculum timelines or preparing students for standardized assessments
- Teaching content outside literacy domains (math, science, and social studies are not included)
- Drafting IEPs, attending committee sessions, or managing school district administrative processes
