Salary Range: $77,153 to $133,752 (based on educational qualifications and experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, revise, and update courses in the Aircraft Maintenance Technology program, including consulting with program administrators, faculty members, advisory committees, employers, and students to define learning outcomes and evaluate progress.
  • Incorporate educational technologies to meet the learning needs of 21st‑century students, and review and revise curriculum during non‑teaching periods.
  • Deliver regularly scheduled instruction in Fall, Winter, or Summer terms, ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques.
  • Provide tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class, creating a learning environment that effectively uses available resources, including educational technologies.
  • Assess student progress and ultimately assume responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within assigned courses.
  • Provide academic leadership by guiding students, instructors, and part‑time professors, participating in curriculum and consultative committees, departmental and faculty meetings, and engaging in community outreach.
  • Participate in the promotion of the program, department, school, faculty, and college.
  • Remain current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed AME or DND AVN QL6A qualification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related field (considered).
  • Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a postsecondary setting.
  • Minimum five (5) years of practical experience related to the field of study.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is an asset.
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document.
  • Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners.

Preferred Qualifications and Assets

  • Demonstrated provision of academic leadership (e.g., guidance to colleagues, curriculum development, program renewal, serving as program coordinator, academic advisor, or curriculum administrator).
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued learning in teaching and curriculum development (e.g., completion of training programs, teaching and learning conferences, or advanced education such as the Teaching Adult Lifelong Learners certificate program).
