About the Role
High School Math & Science Teacher/Tutor – Part-time teaching role focusing on Grades 9-12 math and science. All lessons are pre-planned and you will work in our Pickering learning centre, exclusively in-person.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with up to three students at a time (online and in-person).
- Teach math and science concepts for Grades 9-12, applying Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post-lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (or fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience).
- Teaching/tutoring experience with Grade 9-12 (or equivalent) mathematics and science.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
- Teaching certification an asset.
- Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.
Compensation & Schedule
Part-time, $18-20 per hour, evenings Monday to Friday (5:00 pm-8:00 pm) and Saturday mornings 9:00 am-12:00 pm. A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
