The Dallastown Area School District seeks a Full-Time, 10-Month Autistic Support Paraprofessional for Dallastown Area High School beginning the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will play a valuable role in inspiring and creating pathways for student success by supporting special education teachers in the delivery of supports and services for students with IEPs.

Responsibilities

  • Able to carry out oral and written instructions including those in the student's IEP to allow access to the educational environment.
  • Assisting teachers in presentation and development of learning materials and instructional exercises
  • Performing routine clerical work
  • Working with instructional media, office machines, and equipment

Work Schedule / Pay Periods For 10-Month Positions

  • Full-day hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, which is 7.50 working hours and a 30-minute unpaid lunch period
  • Your work schedule and pay will follow student attendance full and half days during the school year — approximately 177 student days mid-August through early June. Additional days may be arranged by your supervisor.
  • While there is typically no pay periods July through August, you'll enjoy summers off to spend more time with your family
  • For a full school year, your bi-weekly pays will typically begin by mid-September and continue through late-June

Minimum Qualifications

  • Highly Qualified = High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) AND completion of an assessment through our special education department,
    • OR, Completed at least two years of post secondary study (48 credit hours or more)
    • OR, associate's degree or higher,
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis is strongly preferred
  • Completion of at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to assignment each school year
  • Child-centered, warm, and receptive to children
  • Ability to carry out oral and written communications/instructions and work cooperatively with others
  • Acceptable record of attendance
