About the Role
Our bilingual, internationally oriented school in the Dominican Republic is seeking an innovative High School English Language Arts (ELA) / Social Studies Teacher with strong technology integration skills and a passion for preparing students for a globalized world. The ideal candidate is dynamic, culturally aware, and eager to design learning experiences that develop critical thinking, communication, creativity, and digital fluency.
Key Responsibilities
• Teach High School English Language Arts and/or Social Studies (project-based learning, media literacy, global citizenship, interdisciplinary learning).
• Integrate educational technology to enhance instruction, collaboration, assessment, and personalized learning.
• Design engaging, rigorous curriculum units that promote 21st-century skills—critical reading, academic writing, argumentation, research, and digital literacy.
• Incorporate global perspectives to help students connect coursework to contemporary issues, cultures, and worldwide contexts.
• Use digital tools to support student outcomes.
• Collaborate with departmental teams to create cohesive, standards-aligned instructional plans.
• Foster a classroom environment that supports bilingualism, intercultural understanding, and student voice.
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in English, Education, Social Studies, Linguistics, or related field.
• Experience teaching English at the high school level.
• Strong proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into classroom instruction (Google Workspace, digital platforms, blended learning, educational apps).
• Familiarity with international education trends, including global competencies, inquiry-based learning, digital literacy, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Passion for working in a bilingual, multicultural school environment.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with project-based learning or interdisciplinary teaching.
• Comfort using AI-based tools, digital storytelling, or media creation platforms.
• Capacity to inspire students toward global awareness, leadership, and academic excellence.
