Early Childhood Educator, Alpha – $120,000/year USD Jobs in Raleigh, NC at Crossover

Title: Early Childhood Educator, Alpha – $120,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Raleigh, NC

  • $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
  • On-site role at an Alpha campus location across 13 sites in CA, CT, FL, IL, and MA (complete list provided below; relocation assistance available)

An AI system can teach a six-year-old how to read. It cannot make her want to. Bridging that gap is your responsibility.

Alpha's K-2 students complete academic learning through AI-driven applications over two hours each day. No traditional lessons. No paper worksheets. You dedicate half your time to leading one-hour workshops focused on life skills: public speaking, concentration, and how to give and accept feedback. A structured playbook guides you, but top performers customize it for their group and create new exercises when needed. The remaining half of your day is spent in one-on-one or very small group sessions, analyzing Coachbot data, and coaching each child toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. Building trust gives you permission to challenge them. Challenging them demonstrates your belief in their capability.

A successful quarter means every student completes their weekly app targets, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report they love you. Fall short on any single metric and you have not fulfilled the role. Your first year is about mastering the playbook; once you demonstrate you can maintain standards, the opportunity opens to become a Lead Guide, where you mentor new hires while continuing to run your own cohort.

If you prefer traditional classroom teaching, need a rigid curriculum, or think warmth and rigor cannot coexist, this role is not for you. If your background includes early-elementary teaching where you excelled at circle time, camp counseling for young children, coaching youth sports, or performing in children's theater, the final interview stage is a shadow day coaching actual Alpha students. Submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-2 student cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and other foundational skills, customizing the playbook for your group rather than following it verbatim.
  • Conducting daily one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions that ensure every student stays on track for weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and the individual relationships you cultivate with each child.
  • Delivering the Test2Pass, Alpha's mastery-based evaluation, for each life skill, and supporting students who do not pass until they achieve mastery.
  • Engaging kindergarteners at their developmental level with music, storytelling, physical activity, and playfulness while maintaining real, quantifiable expectations for first and second graders.
  • Serving as the caring adult kids are excited to see at morning arrival AND the adult who will not accept less than their best effort.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching from the front of the room. Academic content is delivered through the apps, not by you.
  • Creating curriculum from the ground up. Alpha supplies the playbook and you execute it.
  • Babysitting students at their devices. Motivation in this environment is hands-on, individual, and persistent.
  • Reducing a weekly target so a child can meet it. When a student falls behind, the solution is coaching the student, not lowering the bar.
  • Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach. Campus Leads manage family communication, and the other tasks do not exist here.

Early Childhood Educator Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-2 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved you.

Basic Requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, Miami, or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; or Boston, MA (relocation assistance provided).
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4 to 7 (early-elementary teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership).
  • A concrete example you can share of motivating a young child toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result.
  • Willingness to allow AI to manage instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development.
  • Willingness to maintain rigorous standards with students even when met with resistance.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori/progressive early childhood education, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating young children toward defined objectives.
  • Personal record of exceptional achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), demonstrating that upholding high standards for others is ingrained, not performative.
  • Innate stage presence with young children: the capacity to command a room of kindergarteners using vocal energy, humor, and physical expression.
  • Proven ability to transform timid or reluctant young children into engaged, confident contributors.
