Role Mandate
The Dean – Academics will work in close partnership with the Vice Chancellor / Pro Vice Chancellor to drive the University’s academic vision, strategic priorities, and operational excellence. This role demands a seasoned academic leader capable of balancing scholarly rigor, institutional governance, and growth-oriented execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic academic leadership across programmes, ensuring excellence in curriculum design, delivery, and assessment
- Oversee the overall functioning and performance of the School, including leadership of Associate Deans and Heads of Departments
- Lead academic planning and expansion, including the introduction of new programmes aligned with emerging disciplines
- Drive faculty excellence through recruitment, mentoring, and capability development
- Ensure robust governance, compliance, and alignment with regulatory and accreditation frameworks
- Contribute to student enrolment strategy and institutional positioning
- Oversee budgetary planning, resource optimization, and operational performance
- Foster an enabling environment for research, consultancy, and academic innovation
- Enhance the University’s national and international academic standing
Candidate Profile
- Distinguished academic with a Ph.D. and a strong record of scholarship and leadership
- Significant experience in academic administration at a senior level
- Demonstrated ability to lead large academic teams and drive institutional outcomes
- Deep understanding of higher education governance, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance
- A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into measurable outcomes
