- To plan, prepare and deliver an academic English Language Arts programme which facilitates an active learning experience for all children, in line with the mission and objectives of HTNIA
- To assess, track and evaluate levels of progress and provide feedback to ensure that each child has the opportunity to succeed
- To manage the classroom environment so that it supports and encourages learning
- To always set high expectations, which motivate, challenge and encourage children
- To identify and meet children’s varying needs
- To work towards developing the best combination of Chinese and international learning in a bilingual context
- To ensure outstanding pastoral care and that all safeguarding policies are followed
- To conduct lectures, prepare test & exam papers, correct papers, manage classroom work
- To support school wide activities, such as Parent Teacher Association, open house, direct extracurricular activities and committee work if necessary
- To work as an academic advisor or homeroom teacher if necessary
Roles and Responsibilities – Communication and Cooperation
- To work cooperatively and supportively with all colleagues
- To develop supportive and productive relationships with parents
- To participate in departmental, school based and parental meetings
- To maintain and keep assessment data on children and report on their activity
- To participate in supervisory duties shared by colleagues
- To participate in the co-curricular life of the school
- To support the school’s image and profile
Requirements: Knowledge and Experience
- 2 or more years of full time, school-based teaching experience -Excellent working knowledge of the secondary curriculum for English Language Arts -Excellent spoken and written language skills with a relevant specialism -Experience of working with children who have English as an additional language -Minimum 3 years of professional TOEFL teaching experience, fully familiar with TOEFL listening, speaking, reading and writing modules and proficient in delivering high-quality instruction for at least two TOEFL core skills. -Proven practical experience in supporting students with effective TOEFL score improvement. -Acquired good knowledge about the new TOEFL test, with reasonable amount of experience preparing students for the adaptive TOEFL test.
- Valid personal TOEFL test score at 110 or above; overseas study experience is highly preferred. Personal Qualities
