Courses delivered in either 4‑hour teaching blocks or two separate 2‑hour sessions, scheduled within 8:30 am – 7:30 pm. No reading week; 12 consecutive weeks of teaching followed by a 1‑week final exam period.

Position Summary
Interactions of organisms with each other and with the environment in the ongoing process of evolution by natural selection are examined in the context of the interplay of form with function— for bacteria and fungi, for plants and animals, for individuals and populations, and for communities and ecosystems. Major topics include regulation, homeostasis, growth and development, reproduction, and adaptation.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the properties of life, homeostasis, growth and development, reproduction, and adaptation and interactions among organisms.
- Describe various mechanisms of evolution and the diversity of life.
- Discuss the approaches scientists use to organize living organisms and the tools and techniques used to describe evolutionary relationships of them.
- Discuss different communities and ecosystems and how living organisms adapt to their environment.
- Apply the knowledge of biological diversity and evolution to real‑life situations and practice working effectively in small groups.
Topics Covered
Interactions of organisms with each other and with the environment in the ongoing process of evolution; the interplay of form with function for bacteria, fungi, plants, animals, individuals, populations, communities, and ecosystems; regulation; homeostasis; growth and development; reproduction; adaptation.

SalÂary
$10,212.40 + ($3,404.13 prorated for 4th hour of instruction) + $2,269.42 for tutorial instruction (2 hours and 40 minutes per tutorial, biweekly, 6 weeks)
