Position: Full-Time Wellness Mentor at YK1
Become a vital support for students at Yellowknife Education District No. 1 as a Full-Time Wellness Mentor. This role emphasizes mental health programming, cultural awareness, and student capacity-building.
The Wellness Mentor serves all schools within YK1, focusing on delivering protective and preventative programming for positive mental health. As a core member of both the Mental Health and Wellness Team and various support teams, this position aids in implementing the NWT Ministerial Directive on Inclusive Schooling. Responsibilities include offering small-group support and personalized skill development for students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver protective and preventative mental health programs
• Provide small-group and 1:1 targeted skill development
• Support educators in cultural awareness and trauma-informed practices
• Collaborate with Regional and School-Based Support Teams
• Facilitate timely and effective group supports for students
Requirements:
• Education in Counseling, Social Work, or related field
• Experience in group facilitation and mentorship
• Knowledge of child and youth mental health
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of NWT educational context and inclusive schooling
