GT School operates under a different model. We support Gifted & Talented students in grades K–8 through AI-enhanced curriculum and mentorship grounded in high expectations. We are now expanding our virtual offering to enable families to access GT-caliber acceleration regardless of location. This position is responsible for creating a virtual school model that is demanding, credible, and demonstrably effective.
You will control the complete operational framework of the virtual program. This encompasses the design of student pathways, oversight of advisor effectiveness, cohort-based support, and cultivation of parent confidence. No established blueprint exists. You will conduct performance reviews, execute rapid course corrections, engage directly in live sessions when required, and establish the systems that enable 3× learning gains to scale reliably.
This is a foundational leadership role for someone motivated by measurable impact. The scorecard is retention, academic acceleration, parent trust, and observable student achievement. If you thrive with independence, operational complexity, and direct accountability, this role defines your scope.
What You Will Be Doing
- Architecting and iterating on the comprehensive virtual student journey to foster acceleration, competitive engagement, and community connection
- Analyzing student outcomes, advisor effectiveness, and parent feedback on a weekly cadence to surface deficiencies and deploy targeted corrections
- Managing accountability for the 3× learning framework, spotting XP shortfalls and creating mechanisms to sustain student momentum
- Collaborating with advisors to deliver cohort-specific interventions and preemptive parent outreach ahead of escalation
- Developing advisor training, alignment, and development infrastructure leveraging recorded sessions, data dashboards, and outcome indicators

- Managing a static curriculum with rigid protocols and extended decision timelines
- Relying on others to surface operational or performance challenges
- Prioritizing seat time over documented academic progress
- Generating reports that fail to influence observable shifts in delivery or team execution
Virtual School Director Key Responsibilities
Establish and manage a scalable virtual school operation that reliably achieves 3× learning gains, secures parent confidence, and sustains enrollment through transparent, recognized student advancement.
Basic Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a virtual school or digital learning program with full operational responsibility
- Instructional or teaching background involving firsthand participation in educational delivery (whether in-person, online, or hybrid)
- Robust analytical capability using performance tools, session recordings, and structured feedback to isolate problems and implement remedies
- History of managing distributed teams with defined expectations, accountability structures, and consistent execution
- Effective parent engagement skills supported by a record of proactive, confidence-building communication
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience creating motivational frameworks such as competitions, performance tracking, or community practices that sustain student engagement
- Familiarity with progressive or AI-integrated instructional approaches
- Track record of designing and implementing measurable team development initiatives including training and calibration protocols

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
