Position: Urban Indigenous Employment Counsellor

The Timmins Native Friendship Centre, the largest service provider for urban Indigenous peoples in the region, is seeking an Apatisiwin Employment Counsellor. This role demands a commitment to critical thinking, relationship building, and teamwork to assist individuals in overcoming employment barriers. You will be responsible for assessing users and devising action plans to ensure successful employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver career preparation and education services

• Facilitate partnerships with local organizations

• Oversee job and education placements

• Provide on-the-job support and retention services

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in relevant fields

• Minimum of three years’ experience in social services

• Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture and trauma impacts

• Knowledge of Ontario mental health and community health

• Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is an asset
