Responsibilities
Instruction and Student Support
Support classroom Teachers during push-in (co-teaching) and pull-out instructional sessions.
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce language learning goals, vocabulary, and classroom tasks.
Assist students in understanding instructions, assignments, and classroom routines.
Provide support during assessments, following guidance on accommodations and scaffolds.
Classroom and Student Support
Help students develop organization, study skills, and academic routines.
Support student engagement, positive behavior, and confidence in classroom and small-group settings.
Assist with the preparation, organization, and adaptation of instructional materials.
Supervise students during transitions, learning activities, and ELL-related sessions as needed.
Collaboration and Professional Practice
Work collaboratively with ELL Teachers, classroom teachers, and student support staff.
Share observations about student progress and needs with the ELL Teacher.
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional learning as required.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues.
Demonstrate professionalism in attendance, punctuality, conduct, and confidentiality.
Education
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Desired
Coursework or degree in Education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field.
Training or experience working with multilingual learners or adolescents.
Experience
Required
Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or youth-focused setting.
Desired
Experience supporting English Language Learners in middle school or secondary settings.
Experience working in international or multicultural environments.
Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in English
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with adolescents.
Ability to support students in structured and unstructured learning environments.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructional guidance and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Desired
Proficiency in another language (e.g., Portuguese or others) is an asset.
Basic understanding of second-language acquisition principles.
Ability to support students with diverse learning and cultural backgrounds.
