Title: Training Specialist (Teacher Development)
Company: Teach for Thailand
Location: Bangkok, Bangkok City, Thailand
Teach for Thailand is a nonprofit organization committed to more equitable and just education opportunities for children in Thailand. We want to better Thai education, one classroom at a time. And we do this by partnering with communities to develop a network of leaders through our Fellowship Program.
In collaboration with Panyaana, an alumni-led organization committed to supporting educators’ professional growth by building on their existing responsibilities and strengthening Professional Learning Communities through training, peer networks, and on-the-job development.
The Role: Trainer and Coach (Teacher Leadership Development)
While Thai teachers are assessed through the National Teacher Standard Framework, intended to support both teacher development and student growth, the deeper competencies behind these assessments are often overlooked. In practice, attention tends to be placed on final outcomes or formal documentation, rather than on the developmental process or authentic student learning. As a result, professional growth becomes compliance-driven, and meaningful learning is deprioritized.
This program is designed to shift that dynamic by placing teacher leadership at the center of professional development. It builds on the existing competencies within the national assessment framework, offering practical tools, supports, and training for teachers to track their own growth and their students’ progress in formative, ongoing ways. The program aims to empower teachers to lead from within, collaborating with peers, engaging their communities, and making continuous improvement a shared, purposeful effort. In doing so, it seeks to restore meaning to development efforts and foster sustainable, classroom-driven change.
Outcomes for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Teacher Development: Work with the program manager to develop sessions, plans, and tools while facilitating the sessions with team members and professors to help teachers develop leadership and professional competencies that are benchmarked from the national teacher standardized assessment, through training, coaching, and Professional Learning Communities. At least all the teachers improve by 1 level in every competency throughout the program.
- Program Execution: Work with team to execute a recruitment process, through interviews, to assess the teacher competencies and to evaluate the teachers’ applications, the goal is to have 80 teachers from 40 schools join, committed to participating in the program for at least 1 year, while all of the teachers are actively participating in Professional Learning Communities in and out of the school.
- Program Evaluation: Collect data from teachers, classrooms, and students to assess their development. All participating teachers set measurable goals for their own development and their students’ learning, aligned with school priorities and national assessments. By the end of the program, at least 50% of teachers report achieving the goals established at the start of the academic year.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
