Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Theory of Knowledge Teacher at Le Jardin Academy, located in Kailua, HI. The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging and inquiry-based TOK lessons as part of the International Baccalaureate program. Other responsibilities include assessing and providing feedback on student progress, fostering critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning, supporting students in developing intellectual curiosity, and contributing to the broader school community by participating in collaborative planning and professional development. The TOK Teacher will also collaborate with colleagues to plan activities that inspire reflective and ethical thinking in alignment with LJA’s mission and values.

Potential for a stipend as Core Coordinator for the right applicant.

Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and/or other International Baccalaureate (IB) courses
  • Strong communication, research, and critical-thinking skills
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and differentiated instruction methods
  • Demonstrated ability to foster student agency, interdisciplinary learning, and reflective thinking
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; advanced degrees or IB certifications are a plus
  • Commitment to professional development and a collaborative teaching approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive educational community
  • Passion for engaging with students in an outdoor and experiential learning environment
