Job Summary
The TGT English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature to students in Grades VI–X. The teacher will deliver engaging, student-centred lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills in accordance with the prescribed curriculum and school standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective English lessons aligned with the school curriculum.
- Teach grammar, literature, reading comprehension, creative writing, and communication skills.
- Develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies to address diverse learning needs.
- Integrate digital tools and interactive teaching methodologies to enhance learning.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love for reading and literature.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Design and administer assignments, quizzes, projects, and examinations.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Identify students requiring additional support and conduct remedial sessions where necessary.
Classroom Management
- Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote discipline and positive behaviour in accordance with school policies.
- Encourage active participation and collaborative learning.
Student Development
- Develop students' communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Prepare students for competitions, literary activities, debates, elocution, and examinations.
- Mentor students in their academic and personal growth.
Parent and School Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and behaviour.
- Attend parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development programmes.
- Stay updated with current teaching methodologies and curriculum changes.
- Contribute to school events, clubs, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
- Adhere to school policies, safeguarding guidelines, and professional ethics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree & Masters in English or a related discipline.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a CBSE, ICSE, or equivalent school preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Proficiency in educational technology and classroom management.
