The Pastor of Teaching & Connection is responsible for teaching, communicating, building clear pathways, and the Sunday morning experience. This role integrates teaching, assimilation, and systems to ensure people are not only inspired—but connected, growing, and activated in the life of the church.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Communication
- Preach and teach in alignment with church vision and theology
- Help plan and shape sermon series and teaching strategy
- Equip leaders and group facilitators with biblical content
- Collaborate with worship and staff teams to align services
This pastor is responsible for preaching, equipping, and leading people toward spiritual maturity.
2. Connection & Assimilation Systems
- Design and lead systems that move people from guest → engaged disciple
- Oversee next steps environments (membership, integration into teams & groups)
- Ensure consistent follow-up for guests and new attenders
This pastor helps people move from first-time guest to active participation through intentional next steps and systems.
3. Sunday Morning Experience
- First impressions to worship teams
- Build a leadership pipeline across groups and connection points
- Equip others to lead, not just participate

- Champion a culture where every person is seen, known, and invited
- Oversee the first impressions teams
- Ensure strong Sunday and event connection environments
5. Pastoral Presence
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and spiritual leadership
- Participate in key church moments (baptisms, care, etc.)

- Increased engagement in the church, groups, and teams.
- Clear and consistent teaching aligned with vision
- Caring & leading the Young Families at JWMC
- Sunday Morning Experience is fully functioning

Qualifications
- Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry
- Strong biblical and theological foundation in Wesleyan Tradition
- Proven teaching experience
- Experience building or leading discipleship or assimilation systems
- Ability to collaborate across teams and ministries
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Senior Pastor (vision + teaching alignment)
- Works closely with: Chief of Staff (systems + execution), Pastoral Staff, Worship Staff, and Connections Staff
