Role Description The Lecturer at AIMS Cameroon is a full-time, hybrid role based in Windhoek, with a mix of on-site teaching and some work-from-home flexibility. The Lecturer will design and deliver postgraduate-level courses in mathematical sciences or related STEM fields, prepare teaching materials, and facilitate interactive, problem-based learning. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising student projects and theses, mentoring learners, assessing student performance, and providing timely academic feedback. The Lecturer will contribute to research activities, collaborate with other faculty across the AIMS network, and participate in seminars, workshops, and outreach initiatives. The role also involves supporting curriculum development, promoting inclusive learning practices, and engaging with industry partners and broader scientific communities where relevant.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (preferably PhD or equivalent) in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a closely related STEM discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching or academic training, including course design, delivery, and assessment in mathematical sciences or related fields.
- Active research profile or strong potential for research, with evidence of publications, collaborative projects, or applied work in relevant domains.
- Strong skills in mentoring, academic advising, and supporting diverse postgraduate learners, with a commitment to inclusive and gender-responsive education.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.
- Experience or interest in interdisciplinary work, such as data science, machine learning, mathematical modeling, or related applications beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural environment and across a distributed pan-African network of centers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance teaching, research, supervision, and administrative responsibilities in a hybrid work setting.
