Summary
Conduct short-term early literacy intervention for at-risk first-grade students through daily individualized 30-minute Reading Recovery lessons (up to four students). Teachers will provide instruction for half of the day and support first-grade literacy instruction through classroom modeling, small group instruction, and collaboration during the remainder of the day.
Reading Recovery training includes four days of assessment training and a weekly three-hour professional learning session throughout the school year. Candidates must be experienced and effective primary teachers who are reflective, flexible, and committed to supporting struggling readers. Training completed outside of contract hours is unpaid. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, teachers will earn eight university credits from Saint Mary's College of California.

Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate Arizona Teaching Certificate WITH Reading Specialist, K-8 Endorsement Arizona
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Three (3) years teaching experience with primary age children
- Certain endorsement/approved area(s) may be required for highly qualified/appropriately certified purposes
Requirements Prior To Start Date
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Preferred Requirements
- Bilingual education endorsement
COMMENTS
Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Curriculum Development – Sites may vary
FTE : 1.0 – 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
