Essential Criteria (Section
1)

  • Hold a teaching qualification recognised for grant‑aided schools in Northern Ireland.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching in a primary school achieving positive learning outcomes.
  • Experience using a range of effective classroom strategies to support and challenge pupils of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience using digital media and technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland before taking up the post.

Additional

Essential Criteria (Section 2 – Interview)

  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding and child protection policy, SEND Code of Practice, a range of teaching strategies, IT systems and assessment methods.
  • Effective teaching and classroom management skills to inspire and challenge pupils.
  • Proven ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, solve problems, be flexible and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to motivate oneself and others.
  • Communication of why you wish to teach at Greystone Primary School and how you can demonstrate the school’s values and ethos.

Desirable Criteria (Section
3)

  • Experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2 within the last five years, including monitoring pupil progress, setting targets and preparing for SEAG Entrance tests.
  • Experience with pastoral care and promoting positive behaviour for Upper Key Stage 2 pupils.
  • Coaching qualification in a sport or experience in Music/Drama to assist with school productions and events.
  • Experience assisting with the delivery of extra‑curricular activities and providing details of after‑school activities undertaken.

Professional Duties

  • Plan and prepare courses and lessons.
  • Deliver teaching, setting and marking work.
  • Assess, record and report pupil progress.
  • Promote pupil well‑being and provide academic and social guidance.
  • Communicate and consult with parents and external parties.
  • Participate in staff development programmes and professional reviews.
  • Maintain discipline, health and safety, and safeguarding obligations.
  • Assist in public examinations and perform related administrative tasks.

An Enhanced Disclosure Certificate is required for regulated activity. The candidate is responsible for the cost of this certificate.
