Position Overview

WillowWood School in Toronto, Canada is seeking a dedicated and dynamic full – time High School Teacher to teach students in Grades 9 to 12. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of adolescent learning needs, is flexible in teaching across multiple subject areas, and has proven experience delivering the Ontario Curriculum. Experience of working within the skilled trades would be a significant advantage. The teacher will foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that promotes academic growth, critical thinking, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional programs based on the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 9–12: Construction Technology in the Skilled Trades, intermediate-level Math, and Science.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of students.
  • Teach across multiple subject areas, depending on school needs (e.g., Technology,  Mathematics, and Science).
  • Assess, evaluate, and report on student progress using a variety of assessment tools aligned with Ontario Ministry guidelines.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports student well-being and positive behaviour.
  • Integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to enhance student learning and support school initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Participate in professional learning and stay current with educational best practices and Ministry updates.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing.
  • Qualifications in the Intermediate Division (Grades 4–10) for Math and Science; High School Shop Program Teaching considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Ontario Curriculum.
  • Ability to teach multiple subjects effectively.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and differentiated instruction.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners, including ELL and special education students, is an asset.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.

Salary and benefits

·      $53,000–$63,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus benefits.
