Cognition Creative Learning CIC is an award-winning Community Interest Company based in Bude, delivering inspiring STEM education to children and young people across Cornwall and Devon.
Through robotics, engineering, coding and practical science, we help children develop creativity, confidence and problem-solving skills while raising aspirations for future careers in STEM. We work in partnership with schools, businesses and community organisations to deliver engaging, curriculum-linked learning experiences for children aged 5–18.
As our programmes continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative teacher to join our team.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher looking for a varied role beyond the traditional classroom.
Initially, the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time delivering high-quality STEM workshops and enrichment programmes in primary and secondary schools across Cornwall and Devon. Full training will be provided in our robotics, engineering and STEM programmes.
As confidence and experience develop, the role will grow to include planning and developing new learning experiences, adapting resources for different age groups, contributing to curriculum development and helping shape new projects and educational programmes.
The role offers a high level of professional autonomy, creativity and variety, working with a wide range of schools and young people while being part of a small, supportive and ambitious team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging STEM, robotics, engineering, coding and practical science sessions in primary and secondary schools.
- Inspire children and young people through hands-on, enquiry-based learning.
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
- Create positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environments.
- Build excellent relationships with schools, teachers and partner organisations.
- Safely prepare, transport, maintain and pack away equipment and resources.
- Contribute to the planning, evaluation and continual improvement of Cognition’s educational programmes.
- Develop new workshop ideas and curriculum resources as the organisation grows.
- Support holiday clubs, teacher CPD and special events where appropriate.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety and organisational procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience leading STEM outreach.
- Experience teaching within either primary or secondary education.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own timetable.
- Creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm for practical learning.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, robotics platforms and STEM equipment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
- Experience teaching Computing, Design & Technology, Science or Mathematics.
- Experience delivering STEM enrichment activities.
- Knowledge of robotics, coding or LEGO® Education programmes.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
- Experience leading extracurricular activities or educational projects.
