Job Summary

Job Summary

The El Dorado County Office of Education, a recognized leader in providing high-quality alternative educational programs, is seeking a talented teacher to join our team for our Charter Home Study Academy program. Our instructional format is a hybrid homeschool model. Students come to the school site two days per week for classes and complete work at home, with their parent serving as the home school teacher. Families meet regularly with their supervising teacher, who guides parents in at-home instruction, assesses student progress, and maintains student records. This position requires a strong foundation in Middle School Math and the ability to engage students in grades K-8. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with families and collaborates well with colleagues and parents. Classes run on Monday and Wednesday from 8:30-3:30. Teachers provide direct instruction in the grade-level subject area and create engaging activities and assignments for students to complete at home on non-classroom days. Along with classes, teachers provide academic support in all grade-level subjects on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 – 1:00 using small-group and individual supports. The teacher will also meet regularly with students and families to monitor students' progress in all classwork and ensure they complete the requirements for independent study. Our program is seeking a teacher who can teach in both elementary and middle school settings and prepare and deliver meaningful classroom and at-home experiences that are motivating and academically rigorous. Our students use technology, and teachers utilize a web-based Learning Management System (L.M.S.) to create a seamless educational experience for students. Class sizes run around 18-22 students.
