Position: T2627-238 1.0 FTE Temporary Grades K-12 District Inclusion Support Teacher

Position

We invite applications for the temporary position of:

  • 1.0 FTE Grades K-12 District Inclusion Support Teacher – Social Emotional Learning and Behavioural Support
  • This assignment will begin as noted above or upon leave of the incumbent and will end June 30, 2026 or upon return of the incumbent.

The SEL and Behaviour District Inclusion Support Teacher supports students in grades K-12 with severe behavioural and/or mental health challenges in both school and alternate environments. The teacher is a member of the District Inclusion Support Team and works collaboratively with both the district and school based team.

The successful applicant to this position will have a key role in establishing the specific learning program for the students.

Responsibilities

  • School, District and Community Agency consultation and collaboration for students requiring Tier 3 supports.
  • Supporting students through a trauma‑informed lens to ensure the successful transition to the most appropriate learning environment for the individual student.
  • Case management and IEP development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education, Counselling or related concentration.
  • Completed course work to meet the needs of exceptional learners in the area of behaviour disorders and behaviour management strategies, strategy for adapting and modifying curriculum, differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.

Preferred Candidate Will Demonstrate

  • 3‑5 years related experience in a related education setting.
  • Training and experience with children who present with severe behavioural challenges and an understanding of the impact of trauma on brain development.
  • Working knowledge, supported by coursework and experience, of the special needs arising from ASD, FASD, LD, ADHD, Tourette’s, OCD, ODD, Anxiety, Depression and other neuro diversities represented in the student population.
  • Ability to design and implement muti‑tiered systems of behavioural support.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of elementary and middle school curriculum and the ability to support teachers on how to adapt and modify curriculum for their students.
  • Ability to conduct functional assessments of student needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively with other Behaviour Resource staff, SBTs, community partners and parents.
  • Ability to review and evaluate program goals, student goals and community goals.
  • Ability to write and review competency based IEPs, Proactive Behaviour Support plans, and Integration Support plans.
  • Values ongoing communication with support teams, external agencies, and families to better plan for student success.
