The most disruptive move in education is to stop teaching. Not to stop investing in students—to stop lecturing. To step away from the front of the classroom and abandon the delivery of content that adaptive algorithms now handle with superior speed, precision, and personalization. If that statement provokes resistance, this role isn't for you. If it sparks interest, continue.
Alpha School operates on a model where academic learning happens through AI-driven applications, freeing you to focus on what software cannot replicate: public speaking, sustained attention, grit, and the art of constructive feedback. You won't be delivering traditional lessons. Instead, you'll facilitate workshops. You'll coach. You'll guide a small group of K-12 learners toward challenging weekly targets and enforce those standards with the same rigor you apply to yourself. Students don't rate their Guides highest for being lenient. They rate them highest when their Guide trusts them enough to maintain expectations.
Your inaugural year centers on skill mastery: internalizing Alpha's coaching framework, cultivating trust with your cohort, and ensuring 100% of students meet learning benchmarks each week. Once you demonstrate the ability to uphold these standards while earning student loyalty, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—a role where you mentor other Guides while continuing to work directly with learners. Alpha is expanding to new campuses, and those who exemplify excellence now will be the architects of its future growth.
If traditional education left you convinced something fundamental was missing, or if you've never worked in schools but always felt capable of reshaping a young person's path, this is where conviction becomes vocation.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-12 learners on subjects including public speaking, attention management, and peer feedback—interactive, application-driven sessions where you engage dynamically rather than lecture passively
- Guiding a small student cohort daily, leveraging Coachbot data and motivational frameworks to ensure consistent progress across learning platforms
- Administering and overseeing mastery-based evaluations (Test2Pass) that confirm genuine skill acquisition rather than mere attendance
- Building individual rapport: discovering each student's passions, identifying their unique motivators, and tailoring your coaching style to fit
- Upholding performance standards: achieving 100% weekly goal completion rates and maintaining 90%+ satisfaction in student feedback surveys
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Teaching traditional academic content. Math, literacy, and science are delivered via adaptive software. You will never diagram sentences on a whiteboard or explain algebraic functions.
- Creating curriculum from the ground up. Alpha supplies life skills frameworks and execution guides. Your role is implementation and animation, not invention.
- Evaluating homework or conducting standardized exam prep. No report cards to complete, no state assessment drills to run.
- Supervising passive screen time. When students encounter obstacles, you teach problem-solving strategies. Passive observation contradicts the core of this position.
- Compromising standards under pressure. The coaching philosophy depends on sustained expectations, not flexibility when discomfort arises.
