Job Summary /Basic Function:
The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as school counselor for the K-5 elementary school.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree completed by August 1, 2026
- Licensed School Counselor in Ohio or able to obtain alternative license by August 1, 2026
- Excellent written and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years experience as an elementary school counselor
Essential Functions and percent of time Academic – 40%
- Conduct Individual meetings with students and parents
- Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs
- Participate in team meetings with teachers
Individual and Small Group Counseling – 30%
- Conduct individual counseling with students/parents
- Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members
- Plan and lead small group counseling sessions
Testing and Analysis – 10%
- Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing
Professional/Program Development – 5%
- Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post-graduate courses
- In conjunction with the middle and high school counselors and administration, plan and evaluate the school counseling program, grades K-12
Working Conditions
Length of contract is one year contingent upon funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. This position is State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) eligible.
