Role Description The Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is a full-time, on-site role based at Lamai International School in Ko Samui. The SENCo will oversee the identification, planning, and monitoring of support for students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special education services, accommodations, English As a Second Language (ESL) support or extensions. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum materials, and collaborating closely with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction. The role involves coordinating with families and external specialists, leading professional development on inclusive practices, and advising school leadership on policies and procedures related to special educational needs. The SENCo will maintain accurate documentation, track student progress, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s vision and values.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Special Education and Education, with demonstrated experience supporting learners with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in Teaching and Curriculum Development, including designing differentiated instructional strategies and support programs.
  • Experience in Educational Leadership, such as coordinating support services, guiding staff, and contributing to school-wide inclusion initiatives.
  • Relevant degree in Education, Special Education, or a closely related field; additional certifications in special educational needs or inclusion are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and external professionals.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including managing IEPs, progress reports, and support plans.
  • Experience in international or multicultural school settings is beneficial, along with cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education and ongoing professional learning.
