communication skills
to instruct in our Carpentry Apprenticeship Program, 1st and 2nd periods, in a capacity of a sessional workload. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in ongoing curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation of student progress.

• Develop lesson plans, and course materials
• Select, develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies
• Plan and prepare the physical or virtual learning environment
• Deliver classes
• Promote an effective and efficient learning environment
• Assess student performance in a valid and reliable manner
• Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly
• Discuss with students career and employment objectives, in so far as such matters generally relate to the instruction being offered those students
• Be available to students to support learning through office hours, online, or as scheduled by the instructor in consultation with the student
• Attend and participate in meetings related to their employment with the college
• Participate in activities that enhance instructors overall effectiveness
• Promote the trade and the college to prospective students
Required Qualifications
• Journeyman certification in the Carpenter Trade with a minimum of 5 years in the trade, Red Seal certification an asset
• Strong, diverse skills and experience
• Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software plus an aptitude to learn new software applications and systems
• Self-motivated and ability to work positively in a team environment
