Beech Mennonite Church is seeking a faithful, compassionate, and Spirit-led pastor to join our congregation in guiding and nurturing our shared life in Christ. Position Overview
The pastor will serve as a spiritual leader who models a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, providing vision, teaching, and care to support the life and mission of the church. This role involves close collaboration with the Elder Team and ministry leaders to cultivate a healthy, engaged, and Christ-centered congregation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflecting His character in both personal life and ministry
- Uphold and embody the Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective (1995) in teaching and lifestyle
- Partner with the Elder Team to provide ongoing vision aligned with the church’s mission and to nurture the spiritual growth of the congregation
- Prepare and deliver scripture-centered, relevant, and challenging sermons and teaching
- Lead and support a meaningful discipleship process in collaboration with Elders and Christian Education leaders
- Communicate regularly with church leadership teams (Elders, Worship, Christian Education, Missions & Service, and church staff), encouraging creativity and a heart for evangelism
- Share in pastoral care responsibilities alongside Elders and gifted lay leaders, including visitation, counseling, conflict mediation, and officiating at child dedications, baptisms, weddings, and funerals
- Engage in and encourage participation in conference and community activities that strengthen faith and connection to the broader church
- Provide oversight and collaboration across church ministries
- Maintain availability through regular office hours and scheduled appointments
- Submit regular written summaries of ministry activities, including a time log, to the Elder Team
Qualifications
- A clear and active faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrated through personal character and lifestyle
- Agreement with and commitment to Anabaptist-Mennonite theology and the Confession of Faith (1995)
- Strong biblical teaching and preaching abilities
- A heart for discipleship, pastoral care, and community engagement
- Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers
- Effective communication, organizational, and relational skills
