Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Wigan area.
This welcoming and supportive school caters for children and young people aged 4–16 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, and associated learning needs. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups across the school day.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress.
- Assist with behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs is desirable.
- A patient, caring and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.
