TEMPORARY SECONDARY LANDING SUCCESS TEACHER
The Landing Success program provides a dynamic opportunity for students that is delivered by an educator who is committed to creating an engaging environment that helps students to develop and apply their skills in an exciting way. Landing Success provides Grade 8, 9, and 10 Indigenous students with additional support by offering the opportunity to obtain a credit in PAD1O or PAD2O, Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities.
Dates
Full Credit: Commencing June 29, 2026, and ending July 31, 2026, for a complete credit.
Monday to Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in person.
Note: Courses will only run if qualified teachers are available, and an average minimum class size can be established.
Location: Owen Sound District Secondary School, Owen Sound
Supervisor: Summer Programming Administrator
Remuneration: $49.92 (inclusive of vacation and statutory pay, paid by timesheet)
Position Summary
The Landing Success program is committed to providing quality education for every student in a safe and caring learning environment. As a Landing Success teacher, you will provide leadership and direct teacher support to students enrolled in these courses.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide instruction based on curriculum and support to students enrolled in secondary landing success course(s)
- Assessment, evaluation, and reporting of student achievement in Landing Success course
- Field trip booking, supervision, and implementation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications And Experience
- A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
- Health and Physical education qualifications preferred
Assets
- Sound philosophy of education and strong working knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, Learning for All, and the School Effectiveness Framework
- An understanding of the Anishinaabe traditions and community
- Experience using Office 365
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- An understanding of effective learning, teaching, and assessment strategies
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
Job Requirements
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Clean vulnerable sector police check
- May require access to a reliable vehicle
