Role Description The SAT/ACT Tutor is a part-time, remote role focused on helping high school students improve their standardized test performance and overall academic confidence. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions, teaching test-taking strategies, reviewing practice questions and full-length exams, and offering targeted feedback on student progress. The tutor will customize lesson plans based on diagnostic results and student goals, maintain clear communication with students and families, and track performance metrics over time. Additional tasks may include creating or refining study materials, staying current with SAT and ACT updates, and collaborating with other team members to ensure a consistent, supportive experience for each student.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in SAT and ACT content areas (Math, Reading, Writing, and test-taking strategies).
- Strong instructional and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
- Experience with online teaching tools and remote learning platforms, and comfort conducting sessions via video conferencing.
- Organizational skills for planning lessons, tracking student progress, and managing multiple students and schedules.
- Prior tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience with high school students, ideally focused on test prep.
- Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a four-year college program; higher standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) are a plus.
- Reliability, professionalism, and a student-centered approach, with the ability to build rapport and motivate learners.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate student schedules.
