What You Will Be Doing
- Create and facilitate small-group reading instruction for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics education is enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
- Modify teaching approaches on the spot according to student requirements, group proficiency levels, and signs of engagement
- Conduct motivational sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy applications and reach educational milestones
- Track student performance metrics from adaptive platforms and apply findings to customize instruction for each reading cohort
- Employ narrative techniques, humor, gaming comparisons, and affirmative feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Basic Requirements
Reading Tutor key responsibilities
- Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
- Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics curricula
- 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
- Proven capability to evaluate student reading proficiency and create differentiated lesson plans autonomously
- Passionate about video games and gaming culture, whether or not you are an active gamer
- Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
