In this position, you will provide virtual reading intervention sessions to students in grades 3–8 while supporting them in developing the confidence and determination necessary for sustained progress. You will analyze assessment data to identify skill deficits, modify instruction rapidly, and design interventions that address students at their current level. You will also facilitate brief motivation check-ins that maintain student engagement, accountability, and pride in their development.

What You Will Be Doing
- Providing virtual one-on-one and small-group reading intervention sessions to students in grades 3–8
- Analyzing assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify comprehension and fluency deficits and modify instruction rapidly
- Adapting instruction across varying reading levels, including interventions for students with dyslexia and associated reading challenges
- Monitoring student progress systematically and applying the data to shape subsequent intervention strategies
- Facilitating structured motivation check-ins that reinforce confidence, persistence, and personal ownership of progress
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Teaching large lecture-format classes following a predetermined curriculum
- Adhering to rigid intervention protocols without responding to individual student needs
- Serving as a passive supervisor for software-driven learning platforms
- Relying on superficial rewards instead of cultivating genuine student motivation and self-assurance
Reading Specialist Key Responsibilities
Drive measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension for students in grades 3–8 through individualized virtual intervention and motivation support that cultivates enduring confidence.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a related field
- Reading intervention certification or equivalent state endorsement (e.g., Reading Specialist certification or equivalent)
- Training or certification in dyslexia intervention or structured literacy approaches
- At least 2 years of experience delivering one-on-one or small-group reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
- Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
- Ability to interpret student progress data and use it to adjust instruction effectively
- Strong virtual communication and student engagement skills
- Authorized to work in the United States

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $30 USD/hour, which equates to $60,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
