About this opportunity:
The Project Coordinator & Teaching Assistant plays a key role in ensuring smooth planning and execution of YRES educational and community initiatives. This role focuses heavily on project management, operational coordination, and cross-team alignment. You will manage timelines, resources, and internal/external stakeholders to keep projects running efficiently, while also supporting the delivery of in-person and virtual educational programs.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Plan, organize, and monitor educational and community-building projects and initiatives.
- Track milestones, deadlines, and resources via project documentation; identify delays or risks to supervisors.
- Coordinate communication across internal departments and external stakeholder partners to keep everyone aligned on project goals.
- Revise or design YRES learning materials (e.g., lesson slides) and promotional material using Canva.
- Deliver day camps (e.g., March Break Camp, Weekend Camp, and Summer Camp) and other virtual and in-person educational programs across the Greater Toronto Area.
- Work in various sectors of the company! The majority of the time will be spent on a balance of community development projects and teaching duties but candidates will on tasks related to other fields (e.g., grant writing) to support operation expansion.
Requirements:
- Dedication and passion for all-round language, STEAM, and sports education; community services; program development and management; and collaborative work.
- Ability to use multi-media and digital techniques and content to design project deliverables including brochures, fact sheets, flyers, handouts, and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using Google Workspace and Canva.
- Problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work 35 to 40-hour work weeks, including evenings and weekends based on your assigned shift.
- Mobility to commute to locations (e.g., schools and community centers) across the Greater Toronto Area, mainly York Region, to deliver programs and attend events.
- A valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required from successful candidates (not reimbursed). These can be obtained after co-op employment is secured but must be acquired before the first day of work.
Assets:
- Experience in managing multi-part team projects, organizing events, and leading workplace projects.
- Experience in teaching and/or working with children and adolescents.
- Fluency in more than one language (encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities).
- Access to a car and a valid G2/G Ontario driver's license.
This is a fully in-person position. Salary ranges from $18-26/hour, dependent on experience, skills, education, and role.
We accept 4-, 8-, 12-, and 16-month university/college co-op placements for this position, with priority given to candidates available for 8, 12, or 16 months. The Spring 2026 term begins on May 1, 2026, the Fall 2026 term begins on September 1, 2026, and the Winter 2027 term begins on January 4, 2027.
