Role Description The Programming Tutor will deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in core programming languages and concepts to students at Fishtail Mountain College. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching theoretical and practical programming topics, guiding students through coding exercises and projects, and providing one-on-one academic support when needed. The tutor will assess student performance through assignments, tests, and project reviews, offering constructive feedback to help learners improve their problem-solving and coding skills. The role also involves collaborating with academic staff to align course content with UK education standards and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pokhara.
Qualifications

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, or JavaScript, and solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software development fundamentals.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring learners in programming or computer science, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Competence in designing lesson plans, learning materials, and practical coding exercises that match curriculum requirements and diverse learning styles.
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, with a student-centered approach and commitment to inclusive education.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant teaching certifications or training are an advantage.
  • Familiarity with UK-based curricula or international education standards, and willingness to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in programming education.
