We work with students at multiple levels, from high school through TAFE and university, focusing on building confidence, improving academic performance, and fostering long-term learning skills.
Role Description
We are looking for tutors based in the Wollongong area, with a combination of in-person sessions across the Illawarra region and some online tutoring. You will be given students to work with on a weekly basis. Responsibilities include include planning and delivering engaging one-on-one lessons, assessing student understanding, and adapting teaching strategies to individual learning needs and goals.
Additional responsibilities may include coordinating session schedules, and maintaining accurate records of lessons and outcomes, and collaborating with the Illawarra Tutoring team to share best practices and resources.
Must haves
- Based in the Illawarra region
- Strong subject-matter expertise in one or more of the following: Mathematics, English, Sciences, Humanities, Statistics, or Primary Education.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with learners from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.
- Organisational and time-management skills to manage multiple students, maintain records, and meet agreed schedules and learning objectives.
Nice to haves
- Experience working with high school, TAFE, or university students is highly beneficial; familiarity with local curricula and assessment standards is an advantage.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree, diploma, or current study in Education or a related discipline, or strong academic achievement in the subjects taught.
