Role Description The Phonics Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based at the LBIS Ibadan campus. This role involves planning and delivering engaging phonics lessons that support early reading and literacy development for young learners. The Phonics Teacher will assess pupils’ progress, provide differentiated instruction, and use a variety of teaching resources aligned with the school’s curricula. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, maintaining accurate records of pupil achievement, collaborating with other teachers, and communicating regularly with parents and guardians about learners’ progress. The Phonics Teacher will also participate in training, staff meetings, and school events to contribute to the broader school community.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience in early years or primary literacy instruction, especially phonics.
  • Proficiency in Lesson Planning and Training, including designing structured phonics schemes and supporting colleagues in implementing best practices.
  • Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to engage pupils, collaborate with staff, and maintain professional relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Relevant academic qualifications, such as a degree in Education, English, or a related field, and recognized teaching certification.
  • Experience with the English National Curriculum and, ideally, familiarity with integrating Nigerian curriculum requirements.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills, patience, and a learner-centered approach that supports diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to professional development, openness to feedback, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural school environment.
