Position: Part-Time Teaching Opportunities – FAAD, Masters of Animation, Games and Immersive Experiences
Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team of our Masters of Animation, Games and Immersive Experiences graduate program. This program is designed for creators and technologists inspiring to become leaders in emerging technologies, combining advanced applied research methods with inclusive design principles and collaboration.
We are looking for part-time professors with a deep knowledge and understanding of producing rich student experiences, curriculum design, industry partnership ecosystems, and inclusive/equitable learning practices, with a background in one or more of: film, animation, game development, interactive media, immersive storytelling (XR), virtual production, or related emerging technologies in the screen industries.
Successful Candidates Will Contribute To Graduate-level Teaching, Supervise Thesis And Applied Capstone Projects, Design Inclusive Practice-based Creative Research And Industry Collaboration In One Of The Following Pillars Of The Program
- Interprofessional Leadership
:
Teaching courses such as Participative Leadership Development or Business Finance and Entrepreneurship where students obtain competencies to work collaboratively in teams from diverse sectors, professional backgrounds and lived experiences. - Immersive Narrative
:
Teaching courses such as Immersive Narrative Theories, Inclusive Storytelling and Trends in Immersive Narrative where students engage in 21st century storytelling through the development of compelling immersive, interactive, and inclusive narratives. - Research Methods
:
Teaching Capstone and Thesis preparation courses where students leverage diverse research methodologies to scope define and execute capstone or thesis projects.
Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, ensuring student awareness of course objectives, delivery of learning outcomes, approach and evaluation techniques.
- Tutoring and academic counselling of students, evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses; faculty are expected to make themselves accessible to students outside of class via email or scheduled office hours.
- Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning; faculty are responsible for completing all grading of assignments in the agreed upon time frame, with quality feedback that assists students in the understanding of the subject matter.
- Developing individualized instruction and multimedia presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable; ensure course materials deliver the learning objectives included in the course outlines.
- Advising students as they develop their Capstone or Thesis project from idea to implementation and completion.
- Attending periodic faculty meetings and being responsive to communication from the Program Coordinator, staff and administration outside of class hours, for planning purposes and course maintenance.
