Role Description
The Part-time After-School Tutor will provide on-site academic support to students at our center in Panama City. This role involves delivering small-group and one-on-one tutoring in English, Spanish, and core school subjects, assisting with daily homework, and guiding students in exam and project preparation. The tutor will adapt lesson plans to student needs, track progress, and communicate relevant updates to the program coordinator and families. This is a part-time, on-site role that takes place primarily during after-school hours, with a focus on creating an encouraging, structured learning environment for students.
Qualifications
- Strong instructional skills in core school subjects (e.g., mathematics, science, language arts) and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish; ability to support bilingual learning and basic language acquisition for non-native speakers.
- Experience in tutoring, teaching, or academic support, preferably with school-age children.
- Ability to plan and organize after-school sessions, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Patience, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds, especially Chinese learners adapting to a new school system.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and providing clear feedback to families and program coordinators.
- Bachelor's Degree; coursework or a degree in Education, Languages, or a related field is an advantage.
- Availability during weekday afternoons and early evenings for on-site work in Panama City.
