Literacy & Numeracy Support Teacher
August 27, 2026 until June 29, 2027
Medicine Hat Christian School seeks a passionate, collaborative, and student-centered, faith-based Elementary Literacy and Numeracy Support Teacher. This role is specifically designed to provide targeted instructional support within larger classrooms. Medicine Hat Christian School is a K to 9 school. It serves approximately 300 students and is an alternative Christian faith education program within the Medicine Hat Public School Division. The successful candidate will promote the school mission which is inspiring spiritual, academic, and personal growth through Christ-centered learning. We are looking for a part-time teacher from August 27, 2026- June 29, 2027.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dynamic teaching team, co-planning and co-delivering lessons to ensure every student—regardless of their starting point—thrives in core foundational skills. In this role, the candidate will develop and implement engaging lessons; foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation; and assess and monitor student progress and will Work directly within larger elementary classrooms to provide "elbow-to-elbow" support alongside the lead teacher.
Preference Will Be Given To The Candidate Who Can
- support a Christian faith perspective in teaching, learning and relationships
- facilitate students and parents in having a personal connection with the school
- work collaboratively as part of a team
- work effectively in a team-teaching environment
- demonstrate a strong knowledge of current best practices in elementary literacy (e.g., Science of Reading) and numeracy instruction
- pivot instruction in real-time based on student needs
- innovate, leverage technology, and differentiate instruction to ensure all students can succeed
