Mentor Juvenil, Alpha – $100,000/year USD Jobs in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico at Crossover

Title: Mentor Juvenil, Alpha – $100,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Toa Baja, Puerto Rico

  • On-site position at Alpha School's campus in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $100,000 annual salary ($50/hour, 40 hours weekly), compensation paid each week
  • Teaching certification not required; fluency in Spanish is helpful

The most caring thing you can do for a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that principle makes you uneasy, this position won't suit you. If it energizes you because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a child's ability, continue reading.

Alpha School operates on a 2 Hour Learning framework: students in grades K-8 complete a full day's worth of academics in approximately two hours using adaptive learning applications. No lectures. No textbooks. Your responsibility is what the software cannot accomplish — developing children's life skills including public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and feedback exchange.

You'll dedicate 60% of your time to individual motivation: reviewing learning app dashboards and Coachbot analytics, identifying where an 8-year-old struggles with fractions or a 5th grader resists reading, and helping them overcome obstacles. The remaining 40% involves facilitating interactive, hour-long workshops that resemble improv practice more than traditional classes. Every student must demonstrate mastery through Test2Pass assessments before progression.

This position advances. You'll manage a small cohort and learn Alpha's playbook during year one. Demonstrate you can hold every student to 100% of their targets while maintaining strong satisfaction scores, and opportunities open to Lead Guide, then Campus Lead (where you oversee an entire school). You'll witness a child who avoided eye contact in September confidently present to a room of parents by spring.

Apply if you believe placing 30 children in rows listening to one adult undermines what children are capable of achieving.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Guiding K-8 students individually and in small groups through adaptive learning applications, utilizing Coachbot analytics and dashboards to identify who needs help and why
  • Implementing Alpha's motivation system (leaderboards, incentives, weekly goal-setting) to ensure every student progresses at the expected rate
  • Facilitating hour-long, hands-on life-skills workshops covering public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and feedback exchange (project-based and interactive, never lecture-format)
  • Conducting Test2Pass mastery assessments and maintaining standards: students do not progress until they prove genuine understanding
  • Establishing trust with students so rigorous accountability feels encouraging, not punitive

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lectures or traditional academic instruction (students learn core content through adaptive apps, not from you)
  • Creating lesson plans from the ground up — Alpha supplies the curriculum and playbooks; you deliver them with energy and narrative
  • Grading homework stacks or preparing children for standardized tests; those don't exist here
  • Handling parent communications or school operations — Campus Leads manage those, allowing you to focus on your cohort
  • Passively watching kids on laptops; if you're not actively coaching, you're not fulfilling the role
