Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana Secondary Mild or Intense Intervention Teaching License.
  • Must pass the required Expanded Criminal History Check and Expanded CPS Check.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, initiative, productivity, and collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nature And Scope Of Position

  • Planning and delivery of special education instruction and services.
  • Compliance with legal and procedural safeguards.
  • Maintenance of records
  • Collaboration and communication with parent/guardians, and school staff
  • Supporting students with behavioral and emotional needs

Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with case conference committees.
  • Adapt general education curriculum and modify materials to meet students’ individual needs.
  • Provide direct instruction in resource, co-teaching, or self-contained settings, depending on student needs and placement.
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support students in accessing grade-level content.

Compliance Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, IEP implementation, and service logs.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction.
  • Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings and annual case reviews in compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and procedural safeguards related to special education.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and other service providers to support inclusive practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, goals, and concerns.
  • Provide training, resources, and consultation to staff to support students with disabilities across school environments.

Behavior and Social-Emotional Support

  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and manage classroom behavior using proactive and restorative strategies.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, social skills, and coping strategies.
  • Work closely with school psychologists, counselors, and administrators to address behavioral and emotional needs.

Professionalism and School Engagement

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in all matters related to student welfare.
  • Participate in professional development related to special education practices, laws, and instructional strategies.
  • Contribute to the overall school community by participating in team meetings, initiatives, and school events.
